Intesa Sanpaolo is strengthening its leading position in the U.S. financial landscape through the work of its IMI Corporate & Investment Banking (IMI CIB) Division. Over the past three years, the bank has participated in some of the most significant corporate and infrastructure deals, with a total value of approximately $50 billion—making it the leading Italian bank in project finance in the United States.
At the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund in Washington, Intesa Sanpaolo confirmed its role as a strategic partner for major industrial groups and U.S. financial institutions, focusing on energy, infrastructure, and digital innovation. In addition to traditional financing activities, the IMI CIB Division has distinguished itself in advisory services, bond issuance, and interest rate risk management.
“By involving international investors, we contribute to projects that accelerate infrastructure modernization and the energy transition. The initiatives launched by the U.S. administration in strategic areas such as infrastructure, innovation, and artificial intelligence open up new opportunities, and our Division is ready to play an even more active and long-term role,” said Mauro Micillo, Head of the IMI CIB Division.
In 2025 alone, global project finance volumes exceeded €200 billion, with more than €30 billion mobilized by Intesa Sanpaolo—about 15% of the global market. This figure highlights the growing influence of the Italian bank in the world’s most competitive financial arenas.
